This Los Angeles renovation reimagines a Mediterranean‑style house within its original footprint. Squared openings, a redesigned entrance and a kitchen rebuilt from the shell give it a clear, contemporary character.

Move one
The house already sat well on its lot, so it was worth keeping in place. The budget went into the walls, windows and rooms, not a new foundation.
Move two
The arches were the strongest sign of the old style. Squaring them and removing the decorative columns changed the whole feel of the house before any finish was chosen.
Move three
Matching stone slabs on the hood, island, bar and powder room tie very different rooms together into one house.

Arrival
The approach, the doorway, the light, and the first material your hand touches. The steel‑and‑glass doors do three jobs: they bring daylight into the center of the house, set the black‑and‑white style the rest of the house follows, and make arriving feel like an event.
The console and mirror opposite aren’t just decoration — they turn the entry into a room, not a hallway.
