Malibu Rd Beach House

The Tower Grove Residence is a stunning example of how thoughtful design can transform an old house into a modern masterpiece. Originally featuring low ceilings, small doors, and a kidney-shaped pool, this mid-century home lacked any indoor-outdoor connection. By opening up walls, removing a bedroom to expand living space, and introducing large floor-to-ceiling windows, we created a seamless flow between indoors and outdoors.

A Blend of Functionality and Aesthetics

The Malibu Rd Beach House perfectly combines thoughtful design with natural beauty. The challenge of this interior design project was the client’s wish to enjoy both the TV and the ocean view from the bar area. Minotti was the first designer to introduce a sofa with a detached backrest. Inspired by this, I created a layout that allows for dual functionality and a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living. I placed two different carpets in the same area to create distinct, yet connected, spaces.

Innovative Design Solutions

One unique feature of this house is the lap pool that interacts with the ocean tides. The modern glass facade contrasts beautifully with the coastal surroundings, while blue accents inside complement the ocean view.

Interior Design Highlights

The interior design focused on creating a functional and aesthetical space. The sofa layout allows for enjoyment of both the TV and the ocean view, with strategically placed furniture enhancing the living experience. The color palette was carefully selected to harmonize with the natural blues of the ocean and sky. Initially, I wanted to change the color palette of the wood and everything in the house, but as the project progressed, I worked around it, and it ended up complementing the overall design. While the Malibu Rd Beach House is a large residence, the design principles and features can be adapted to spaces of any size. The focus on quality materials, innovative solutions, and client-centric design makes this project a standout example of modern coastal living.
